How it Works (Planning & Guide)
Creating a photo montage video may seem like a daunting and overwhelming task. However, Nostalgic Echo is here to make this process as easy as possible. Simply use this planning guide to lead you through the process and soon you will be enjoying and sharing your own personal photo montage video with those you love.
A. Selecting photographs and home movies
1. What type of video would you like?
Decide what type of video you would like made. Is this a birthday video, a graduation, a vacation, etc. The photos you select should all fit within that particular theme.
2. Ask yourself for whom is the video intended?
Who is your primary audience? Will it be viewed by your immediate family, friends, co-workers, etc.? This will help to determine the content of the photos and home movies you select for inclusion in your photo montage video. A birthday video with the birthday celebrant as the primary focus of all of the photos may appeal to his or her immediate family, but may be found boring by extended family, friends or acquaintances.
3. Storyboard the events to be included.
A simple list of events to be included in your video will suffice. For instance, if it is a wedding video, you may want to include the ceremony, the reception with the bride and groom first dance, bride and father dance, groom and mother dance, bridal party toasts, and garter and bouquet tosses.
4. Narrow down your choices.
Now use the following criteria to select your photographs and narrow down your choices.
a. Select those photos that have sentimental value or are very meaningful.
b. Select those photos that exhibit character or personality of the photographed subject(s).
c. Select those photos which capture candid moments or the accidental beauty of life.
d. Select those photos that memorialize important and significant moments in life.
e. Select a mixture of both close ups of individuals and group shots.
f. Select more horizontal shots, landscape photographs, or panoramic views instead of vertical shots because the horizontal, landscape, and panoramic shots fill the screen more completely than a vertical shot will. However, vertical shots are fine to use so long as they are spread throughout the photo montage video. Our artisans will craft them in such a way that makes up for their “television shortcoming”.
g. Avoid selecting photos that are too similar (with few changes from one photograph to another such as group photos with subjects just moved to a different position). Avoid selecting photos that do not contain a human subject. This of course will depend on the nature of your photo montage video. If you want to capture a personal life’s work in photography, for example, this could result in a number of photographs without any human subjects.
h. Avoid selecting photos that are very small or out of focus.
5. Decide the length of your video.
The length of your video may be selected by either picking a specific time you would like your video to run or the length may be determined by the number of photographs you select to use in the video.
